My name is Chris Bavin

I opened the naked grocer in Walton on thames in september 2009.

A little bit about my history

I started working for a small family run flower importers called Connaught flowers when I was 16 then after working there for 3 years i moved to a large agricultural exporter where I continued to sell flowers into the wholesale markets and supermarkets. I found I much preferred the honesty and integrity I found working with the UK wholesale market than the supermarkets.

After another 5 years selling flowers I moved into the fruit and veg department again selling to the UK wholesale markets.

The thing that really stood out whilst I was supplying the wholesale market and the thing that i found very sad was the continual decline and constant closure of small independent retailers.

I thought that all the villages and towns would all be much worse off without all the local little stores but unfortunately wouldn’t realise it until it was too late.

So i decided to try and turn the tide (albeit it in a very small way)

I decided that even though I had no retail experience (literally none) and we were in the worst recession for the last 50 years I would open my first greengrocers…
